Worse than mold
I recently showed you our moldy blueberry muffins/science experiment. Well here's something far worse... two months ago we had a Christmas Party especially to thank our friends that helped us so much during Mike's illness. We had a fire in our outside firebowl and bought lots of hot dogs to roast. This morning (two months later) I found a Walmart bag in the back of our pantry with two packages of hot dog rolls that we bought for the party that never got eaten....THEY ARE NOT MOLDY!!! The sell by date on the package is December 27, they have not been in the freezer or anything, just hidden in the pantry. If you didn't know any better you'd think there was nothing wrong with them. Can you imagine the amount of preservatives that must go into those to make them not become moldy two months later?? We will be feeding the ducks with them this afternoon.

That is pretty bad.To think that we eat so many preservatives.
Scary. It reminds me of the french fries on Super Size Me. They never went mold either. What ARE we eating?
I am feeling sorry for the ducks, now.....
I went to a thing a few years back about nutrition and the woman passed around a cheeseburger and fries that were about 10 years old and they were hard but had not molded. Yuck! I wish seeing that would just gross me out and I'd never want another french fry but I still LOVE them!
I remember one time in Vero a very bad "smell" was getting worse and worse...but we couldn't find it. THis was back before I kept house and everything was piled everywhere.
When we found it? WEEKS later? It was a CHICKEN that came home from the store in a bag and got set on the floor amongst some stuff and forgotten. You do NOT want to know, trust me!
Wow! That's really weird. I guess mold is a good thing. We can guage how old something is (unless it's been preserved to death!!)
