Who's reading this?

Ok it's that time again...who reads this anyway? I've got the address on my facebook profile and we put it in our Christmas letter, so if you are a fairly regular reader (or you just happened to catch this post) let me know who you are. I know about those of you who, like me, are addicted to blogs (you can leave a comment too...but I mostly know who you are).

On another note, how about that miracle on the Hudson River yesterday?! Mike was actually flying yesterday, and I had talked to him after he landed, but then my mother called to find out what airline he was on and told me about the crash. Isn't it amazing that everyone is OK? The kids and I watched some of it on the news yesterday and read about it on-line and in the newspaper today. I think we feel more connected to it because Mike was flying to NJ (actually he flew into Philadelphia) yesterday. (He flys back today). We feel that anyone who might not have believed in God before yesterday that knows anything about the crash must today!! It is especially fitting because I was finishing reading Beyond Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury yesterday which is a Christian fiction book based on September 11th (it is a sequel to One Tuesday Morning...they are both great books!!)

And to spice things up a bit, lots of blogs lately (well two) have been about talking about "the birds and the bees" with kids. We've discussed this before (with Jonathan and Madi I mean--often when I say my kids I mean the two older ones---Jake is in a world of his own...currently choreographing his own Beauty and the Beast production, but I digress...) but like the Santa topic, I think Madi has blocked a lot of it out. We had a little 'refresher' discussion about it this morning, and she is pretty grossed out by the whole thing. When we were done I asked if they had any questions and her response was "Yeah, can we stop talking about this?"

Okay, I know that you that I read your blog but I am commenting anyway.
very funny about Madi!
That plane crash was unbelievable. So awesome that everyone survived. I was wondering if there were any babies on board but I haven't heard anything about it. The few times I've flown there have always been a few babies. I can't imagine remaining clam if I was with my kids.

I also couldn't imagine remaining calm! I hate when I don't read my comments before hitting publish

I'm a reader. I can't recall how I found your blog, probably from a Google alert on homeschooling and Florida? I didn't watch the news at all yesterday, so didn't know anything about this until this morning. All the news with such easy access and still I didn't know. I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing... FWIW, I'm a homeschool mom of 4 in Lakeland. :)

p.s. I like your website design, but I wonder if anyone else sees the blue text popping out at them like in a 3D movie. The black text sinks back and the blue pops out. It's a pretty cool effect, even if it is just my eyes goofing on me.

Well, I think you know that I read your blog too.

I love the picture of all of the passengers standing on both wings of the aircraft. Scary and cold I know, but it looked like they were walking on water. And to answer Ann Marie's question, yes, there was an infant and a 3 year old girl on the plane. They were flying with their mother. Thankfully, another lady helped carry the 3 year old because none of them could swim.

Obviously you know I read your blog faithfully! That plane crash/landing yesterday was pretty amazing. Tucker and I were mesmerized by the news yesterday afternoon. It was pretty amazing hoe calm they all were, too!

you know what, about the birds & Bees thing...

my mom had a good point that they might not be as embarrassed and might be more likely to ask questions if we talked to them each separately.

Of course it is too late for that for me but I could just go back and ask them each later if they have questions.

I thought this was a really good point though, esp. since they are boy & girl it might make it even more embarrassing for them.

Hee Hee....4 yrs ago when Laura was starting High School I felt the need to give her a "Refresher" in the subject of the Birds & The Bees since the subject normally grossed her out. I put her in the car on the pretense of going to Altamonte to see The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants {which we did see}. Anyway, doing it in the car was the only way since she couldn't escape from me...Hee Hee

BTW.....yes I do read your site, its the only way I can keep up since you never visit the Preschool...LOL!
